Great - Facebook prize spambots over people...

JointEffort Software Decided all my friends were it's friends with out telling me - which bit of that don't FB get !? - where on this form does it say they are going to spam all my friends with google links ? - or even invite all my friends ? - after I clicked to check for friends - the bot took over my account (under false pretenses) and SPAMMED using my account I never agreed for use for that purpose.

I've contacted the company which make the social community platform that funnation use - as it seems they are responsible for setting up the mass mailing software which breaks facebook rules and has caused me to infect others with it.

JointEffort is the platform/webmaster's white label - if you are a social networker or webmaster I urge you to steer clear - their mailing software (they don't tell you it's mailing software by the way - they say it finds friends currently on the network - like the type of thing you get on Plurk or Pownce) pressing the "check for friends" button can get you accused of spamming and/or banned from all the major social networking websites.

- Facebook issued me a warning I had to acknowledge or be banned from using facebook. I'm not very happy at Funnation/Jointeffect causing this to happen to me, I've never used mass mailing out side of legal limits. I have no need to do it, never even wanted to do it - so I am warning others after the event WATCH OUT- I have image stills of the misleading process which leads it to happen-

- Which clearly shows I didn't intend to mass mail intentionally - I had no way of knowing that the software was set up to mass mail rather than import friends - facebook - have failed to check who they gave permission to partner with them - the jointeffort platform clearly has facebook's permission to allow integration so people can enter there login details, this is dispite the software being against facebook rules - that's how they got my password - facebook have obviously acknowledged this by making me get a new password today - yet I had to take the blame - I took it under fear of losing my connect to facebook, not because did anything against the rules - from what I understand sometimes you have to take the blame even if you didn't do it and this is what I have been forced to do.

I will remove this message when this mess has blown over - I don't feel like communicating with anyone at the moment - jointeffort have messed up my accounts - and caused myself and others to lose time and question reputation/conduct by others - if I had an income to lose - I'd sue them.

Lemon's second facebook bee sting this time 'funnation'

Okay and there's me thinking my first story on my video news show (that's over due , due to someone branding it a 'failure' and putting me of doing anything at all)was gonna be looking at the fact bloggers are gonna be up for charges and court if they don't pay up for quotes and linking to press articles syndicated by Associated Press - heck as long as wiki and digg don't get there stuff from there I guess I'm okay ?

Anyway, Remeber the 'crushes' app that came out last year on facebook, well the funnation one catches people out in a similar way - curiousity + friendly people = some spyware geek somewhere is probabley having a right laugh at us unfortunate folks that contracted - "googlelinks" and gave it to all our friends, without our permission

- one word for funnation - SPAMBOT - hiding in the guise of a 'friend importer' - i.e a cross platform friend finder - twitter to plurk have a real one - funation have a machine gun rather than a hoover - if you see what I'm saying - they sent out bulk mail to ALL your facebook contacts - I didn't try the myspace button and other options - I unfortunatley chose my biggest collection of friends, family & network buddies - and these wipper snappers - managd to e-mail every single person (something even I am not allowed to do on facebook - let alone some third party spam bot outside of facebook)

And I ended up with 40 complaints and some confused friends - some of which have only known me for a while. I have never used e-mail as a marketing method - because I know all about the laws and it scared me off for years - why do you think I love facebook, feedburner and - it doesn't involve messaging without a persons permission - is why.

This dumb ass action by funnation sums up just what I thought - spammer have no idea how to network - this - hack of social networks is pathetic.

I feel daft as a brush passing on this thing - bit like head lice I guess - I'm hoping facebook will sort them out - they obviously have an API key of some sort on funnation to allow a user to access facebook via them - an statement of apology to any users, such as myself and my buddies - and a change of the form - is needed as minium.

The people are just people that you get on any social network - they aren't the problem - it's knowing who decided it was a good idea to spam a well established network with 3 rate spamming gear and think nobody would eventually notice ? - using google links was also really dumb - I've yet to see if they are linked up to an adsense account - or used to avoid getting caught out ?

Facebook is acting really weird & keeps going off too - is this because they are preparing for the changover to new profiles and at the same time are being hit by a spambot - I wonder what the effect on servers is if lots & lots of friend requests (send out by a bot)are delivered to loads of friends - remember I had 639 facebook e-mails stolen - and alot of my friends have large lists of people too, we all collect friends, then get to know some, digard others etc. I've always presumed that lots of messages hammering at a server causes it to crash more often, for the sam reason I can't have too many apps. running on my pc -

I also use facebook like some people use twitter - now a spambot like this one spamming a site like twitter - that is already clogged would bring it down.

So only advice I can give in retrospect is - watch out - they are still out there hyjacking accounts, leeching traffic in an unethical manner using people's trust and good will - the lady who sent it to me probably had no idea - i just joined up as i belong to many folk accross networks.

Maybe I should have a warning attached that I do get stung by Internet bee's on average of once every 5 months - usually on something quite cheap and tacky - but atlast it's not porn or viruses or viruses anymore - in 2001 I probably had every piece of spyware imaginable on my machine - so i can see how people get caught up having something gross on their machines they don't want.

I just don't like giving the lurgy to people on-line, it's kind of embaressing after all this time - so I am not a happy bunny with these spambot and if it tries to roadkill me....it's a wasted journey x_X I am a zombie already, you'll get nothing of value from me - i have sod all but an internet connection and a pc ( second hand off ebay)

zaralockwood.TV now a reporter channel

I've had a mini revamp of my youtube channel - and decided the 'main' focus there will be video blogging about this blog :) (my mini news) ustream, gumtree and anything I can get aggregation to it all the better - as it says on the packet - it is my original channel! - and a bit of a mixture.

TV and video stuff - I've noticed Lisa Nova and Whatthebuck are over on blog.tv - so I've reactivated my blog.tv account and my main idea is still roughly the same - start as i have - this basic lifecasting malarky to get used to talking live - on several different video portals - in any old way I feel like.

- then do different themed shows on each one - so sub4sub is obviously about sharing profiles and making cyber friends - and is untargeted (in ad speak) anyone and everyone can swap profiles & I'll probably focus on talking about different social networks, community portals features etc. that I like - that subs4subs works on. - it's sole aim is a mingler, ice breaker, swap/share type thing - with no selling apart from the sole promotion of the networks you use.

Now people that sell for a living may wonder what the heck the point in that? - where's the catch - the hook to drag those people screaming to my site ? - well the whole point is - it's real networking - it' mutual - you don't need to drag people to your profiles you offer your profile - people built up trust - if they like your profiles they add you - no matter if your a CEO or a janitor - if you have links on those profiles that are connected to business as well as your hobbies - that's fine too - you just don't need to tell/sell people here.

Why will people choose to come to my profile if they don't know what's on it ?

freedom of choice and acts of random, flash mob - within a group create a community feeling - stick a bunch of people in an elevator for a few hours - they will either come out as friends or enemies either way they have bond and connection, they probably won't forget each other - just like I remember the first forums I joined - the first cyber friends I made on facebook- fate has rolled the dice and brought them there together at that time - it doesn't matter if it is planned or not - if you are in, you are in, it doesn't cost you to get in - but once you are in you are part of it... even if you leave, you don't get forgotten in some way (like the hotel California :D).

Who said 80% of success is showing up ? - or something like that ? - same kinda idea - the niche is sub4sub - you might make just some more friends, you might make some business connections, you might see it as a complete waste of time and leave - the world doesn't end when you depart - it carries on rollin' !

If you think you are in some way 'better' than everybody else & don't want more friends and connections - that's fine - keep to your methods if they work for you (they haven't done it for me, so I'm trying something else to prevent stagnation and to keep moving - do or die ) - sub4sub is about sharing equally rather than trying to take advantage - win4win.

The Death of Search Engines?

The idea is that people don’t need to go to a search engine to find what they need. If they want a review of a product, they will go to Amazon or CNET. If they want to find out about a place or person, they will head straight to Wikipedia. If they want something funny or interesting, they’ll got to YouTube or Digg.Zara's note: the landscape of searching is changing - sites like facebook are like alternative search engines - that have people recommending what is good or not - I use google to find information and facts, but use facebook and Amazons reviews to find people's experiences, recommendations about quality/functionality or product/service, customer service, delivery times etc. - both google and a social network can be source for these things via a group or friends.

mashable.com the live broadcast on ustream

I caught the tail end of a live broadcast by mashable last night after following a tweet about it on mashable's twitter the broadcaster was talking to another guy using the co-host feature, both were wearing headsets, which i found a bit strange - maybe because I've been used to watching vids by Jim Edwards - the broadcaster informed the co-host that 36 people were watching, although there weren't so many logged into the chatroom

- my profile name is my real name - but i noticed that like forums some chose false or shorter names. I asked for a link to the product that was being disgussed in the chatroom as no active url was there or given - something for them to take note of - a visitor can click on an active url in and listen to you at the same time!

So things to learn from watching someone else new to the ustream/co-host feature - firstly they did right in reminding the co-host that they were infact live and people were listening watching - but the main host could have been a bit more subtle when logging off/ the host was referring to visitors rather than engaging with vistors -

- Remember the vistors came because they were invited via twitter - that's the power of twitter - it is an announcement tool - when the co-host responded to my communication the broadcaster was quick to say - oh we need to talk about the visitors off line in private - we'll do that now - then the station went off air.

- Gone, no thanks for visiting or recognition that "the visitors" were part of the broadcast - I found that a bit rude - maybe it's because I always treat the viewer as a person, i.e they are there - all I'm saying is it was odd that the co-host acknowledged the interactive vistor situation while the host chose to ignore the 36 people, "we need to speak about the on-line people here in private" - okay, don't mind me, I'm just a voyer listening in on your conversations.... oh wait a minute I though we were invited.....?

Yeah, well I guess they are new to it too - the only funny thing was I said "damn, they heard I'm crazy already..." this is after we had been dumped for their private chat about us....and the word damn was replaced by the word "censored" which made it look like I might have said something really bad - the ustream profanity filter must have a religious slant to make it block out the word damn as offensive - go look on Bebo - there are enough swear words/ sexual references there in comments to make a porn star blush!

I added them to my ustream friends list as i have an account with them and visit the site occasionally and the guest speaker had a useful service to offer at http://www.tubemogul.com I'm still waiting for my account details - it's a service that tracks hits and stats to your videos - but i'm not going to 'big it up much' incase they have ignored me - It's also worth mashable remembering that most people are paranoid to some extent - whether it's founded or not.

- The broadcast left me paranoid that my account application at tubemogul has been ignored coz of some 'secret thing' they were saying that I don't know about - people 'a bit like me' are everywhere - a' thanks everyone' for dropping in, might have prevented that. (I am overly paranoid mind, about most things - I'm social phobic, so i doubt all 36 other people felt the way I did about it - unless it was a social phobics outing of course :P)

I might try tuning in again, or I might just focus on my own stuff, I don't like feeling dissed much.

Re: The Stop Sub4Sub Campaign

This is mystery eye aka President of Utubia explaining in his own way, why there is nothing wrong with sub4sub - to a girl that seems to have started a mini flamming war on youtube by accident - or maybe marketing advice ?! (depending on your view point) about the sub4sub scene - I've obviously decided to side with the sub4suber's as sub4sub - is the the basic exchange of favor for favor, contact for contact - the thing that makes social networking tick - in my opinion - as the girl (Carrie Lee ?)pointed out youtube have decided to feature this video on the front page - even though she would prefer that they didn't, which is even stranger - I mean why wouldn't you want you video there ?

The sub4sub debate is no different to the chav or emo (who is best) kind of arguement.

I have noticed that it's rather like the add me! friends groups, I've been joining also on facebook recently, one of the benefits of being useless at just about everything (it's 'useless' people like me remember that have been using any money I ever get for putting back into the Internet as I believe in the power of it to make me productive to society eventually in some way), is that you getting to try out all these half personal / half business ideas that come out - sub4sub is one of those that can be used by many groups of people, small business or hobby.
