The Point of Twitter: Social Networks Matter to Small Biz

How to Really Get Top Ten Rankings In Google

Google Top Ten Rankings:
How to Really Get Top Ten Rankings In Google In 37 Minutes, Really, For Real!

Why Everyone Is Choosing The Keywords For Their Articles, Blogs Web 2.0 Sites, and Videos In The Wrong Way And The Only Way That Makes Sense.

Eleven easy steps to those top ten Google rankings By Marlon Sanders

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I'm not a big seo person. But, I'm working on a new product, so I have to get my ducksin a row. I have a shocking SEO secret to share here I betyou haven't heard before. I'm gonna break this down for you really easy. The first thing people do in search engine optimization, thatis creating pages to get ranked in the search engines is tofind key words to target with their pages. This is the link to the easiest free tool I've found:http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/index.php

So you type in your topic and hit submit. What most peoplethen do is look for keywords that have a smaller number ofdaily searches. So, for example, if you type in the keyword "dog training" you might select "dog training collars"instead of dog training. The wrong way to do it is to choose keywords by a low numberof daily or monthly searches, assuming that means lowcompetition.

Let me show you this: You can have a word in Google that LOOKS like it has two MILLION pages to compete against. Yet, in reality, there are almost none.

Type this in Google: sales letters cold calls

When you type it without quotes, I use the pay per clickter minology and call it the "broad phrase." If you look at the number of search results Google returns, it's in the range of 1,790,000. The ebooks you read will tell you to choose keywords with under 1,000,000 results. But that is WRONG. Check it out.

Type this in: "Sales Letters Cold Calls" In other words, do it in quotation marks. That searches ONLYsites with the exact phrase. Now look at the results: SEVEN! There are ONLY 7 basic sites to compete against. Let me prove this works. Look at this: sales letter cold calls That's singular instead of plural "letter". 239,000 results.

Now type it in in quotes -- "sales letter cold calls".I call that the exact phrase. There are FOUR results! And the first two are mine. I amlisted in page two. And I only submitted the page onApr 25, 2008 03:30:17 GMT Here's another: greatest direct mail sales letters 368,000 results. The exact phrase in quotes? Only 1,760.

And look at numberfour: hubpages.com/tag/worlds+greatest+direct+mail+sales+letters/hot That would be MY page. And I only submitted it on Apr 25, 2008 03:30:41 GMT. Literally a few of these rankings I got in 30 minutes to onehour! See, when you're really only competing against 4 sitesor 2,000 sites, it's NOT so hard! NOTICE: Since I've publicly posted these results, I'm sure they'll get zapped.

That almost always happens when you make something like thispublic. The sites you post publicly are sacrificial lambs to demonstrateyour point. Here is how to get YOUR top ten rankings TODAY! Like in onehour from now if you're lucky.

Step one: Go to: http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/index.php I usually just go to seobook.com and type my term in the box at the right. You can also use nichebotclassic.com or ANY other keyword tool.

Step two: Search your topic

Step three: Start selecting keyword phrases and type them into Google with the exact phrase in quotes.

Step four: Find a phrase that has only a few search results. Preferably under 10. But under 2,000 is good. Let's say you bought the private label rights to an ebook on dog training. You type in: training dog choke collars. You see 1,850,000 results. YUK. But in quotes "training dog choke collars" you find only THREE stupidcompetitors! This is taking top ten Google rankings like taking candy from a baby!

Step five: Build several web 2.0 sites on the exact phrase as the title. Post an article to the site with the phrase in the titleand in in the article once in bold. For example, a squidoo lens on "training dog choke collars"would be http://www.squidoo.com/training-dog-choke-collars Blogger would be:http://www.training-dog-choke-collars.blogspot.com/ Write quality content that is unique and original if possible. Try these properties: squidoo.comwordpress.comblogger.comhubpages.comzimbio.com

Step six: Digg your new site at digg.com

Step seven: Submit a story on it to propeller.com(Just a few paragraphs with your URL.) If it's a blog, you can submit the URL withpingoat.com or pingomatic.com.

Step eight: Put the URL in a Twitter.(Sign up at twitter.com.) This one I'm not sure works. I'veread it does.

Step nine: After one hour, paste the URL of the site intoGoogle and search for it. For example, if this was your blog, you'd paste the whole URL into Google search: http://sales-business-letter.blogspot.com/ Now, as you can SEE, it ain't in there. I don't know why!I'm still learning nuances. I've only been at this fourdays!

Step ten: Add new posts to your site, new articles, videos or content daily.

Step eleven: Every time you add new content, posts, videos or articles to your site, bookmark it with a couple of the bookmarking services like simpy, del.icio.us or furl. You "might" use onlywire.com for this. I'm not sure on that one.

On most ALL the sites, there's a way to "insert video"and you simply put in your youtube URL and BOOM! You have avideo on the site. At the end of the day, you need content humans WANT to read. You create sites for humans, NOT GOOGLE!

At the end of theday, you gotta have sites people want to read and that helpand benefit them. Otherwise, your site won't be evergreen. Oh, updating your site frequently is how you keep the Googlebot coming there and how you stay IN the rankings withoutsliding down. Now, if you're lucky, Google will spider and list the site inunder an hour. I got mine in there in 37 minutes.

Thus, the title of this article. On the other hand, I have some Squidoo pages, a Blogger blog and a Wordpress blog that I can't even get Google to spider yet. I'm trying to figure THAT one out! If any of you are seo gurus and can tell me WHY these sites get NO Google love, post on my blog: http://saleslettersoftware.wordpress.com/It doesn't show up in Google at all. https://sales-letter-software.pbwiki.com/Sales-Letter-SoftwareDitto.

OK. So you have to create sites in multiple web 2.0 properties. Some will stick. Some won't. What Melvin Perry, an seo guru I like told me is with different niches, different things workbetter. In some niches a Blogger blog or Wordpress blog does great. In some, it's Squidoo. It depends on the niche.

If you do more than one of these sites a week, go to:www.apple.com/safari Download the Safari browser and do ALL your work in it vs.Firefox or IE. Why? If you select "Edit, private browsing" itturns off cookies and history. If you're checking your sites all the time, I have a feeling(but no proof) Google then thinks you're an seo king and they penalize you.

But don't quote me on that. I think that is why several of my sites above aren't spidered.I searched them too many times using Firefox and Google figuredI must be up to no good! So, I'm NOT saying it's all gonna work 100% of the time. Atleast, not until I figure some more things out.

Back to work. Marlon For free podcasts, free videos, free articles, go to:http://www.marlonsnews.com/. You can hit me with your comments and feedback on this issue.

Web Site Traffic -- Marlon's In Depth Analysis of What'sWorking and What Isn't In 2008

"The 5 major traffic sources reviewed and analyzed in light of current developments and changes." By Marlon Sanders

This article reviews the latest developments ingetting traffic to your web site. I'll try to remove the fluff and just tell youwhat's going on.

-------------------------------1. Social marketing and web 2.0 properties--------------------

This is all the latest buzz. The idea is that you use web 2.0 sites like Propeller, Tumblr, Squidoo and others to create mini sites that target keywords. If the Google gods smile on you, they spider yoursite, list it at the top under your key word and all is well.

There are also clever bookmarking methods using services like onlywire.com that tag your site in a number of the sites. Bottom line? All of these methods are designed to getyou organic seo positioning. "Organic seo" is a term used to distinguish between the non-paid listings on left side of your Google search results and the paidlistings at the very top and the right side of your results.

So you have organic or non-paid listings. And you have the pay-per-click listings. Methods, secrets, tricks and techniques for gettingtop positions in Google have been around since day one.I have dozens of pieces of software on my box that originally were supposed to be the "magic bullet" of seo.

Now, they're not worth the space they take up on myhard drive. These methods DO work. But they also go out of stylequicker than fashion. If you have the money and timeto muck around with a method that may only get you a year of results, or less, go for it. I tried creating a bunch of these sites and links andnothing happened.

That means there's a substantial learning curve. On the other hand, creating the sites is free. So your main cost is the cost of buying the know howand the time to implement the methods. The best approach is to take the articles you createfor article marketing and spin web 2.0 properties fromthem.

Opinion: If you build these web 2.0 propertiesor sites with quality, unique content -- your sites will have staying power. If you outsource your content creation to the lowestcost bidder, well, keep your fingers crossed.

------------------------------------2. Article marketing------------------------

Article marketing in one form or the other has been working for years. It's still an organic seo game. The current vogue is to write articles and submit them to a small set of directories that get a lotof Google love. The downside is that tomorrow Google could changeits mind.

Google is like the proverbial sailorjoke: "You number one sailor. You number one." Then the next day... "You number ten sailor. You number ten." You have no control over fickle Google love. Having said that, article marketing has worked foryears and will continue to work. For a person on alimited budget marketing on a national or globalbasis, it's a good choice.

If you're marketing locally, I would think local pay-per-click ads would be a better choice. A lot of marketers are hiring others to write articlesfor them. I have mixed feelings about this. My guess is that in the long run, unique, valuablecontent will get Google love. And run-of-the-millcontent won't.

The current vogue is article spinning where you usesoftware or services to write variations of yourarticles, so you don't submit duplicate articles tothe different directories. It's a constant cat and mouse game between Googleand marketers.

Google started penalizing duplicatecontent, so marketers started spinning articles toavoid the penalty. The next move is Google's. I'm not really on board with the article spinning ideain that it isn't evergreen. However, some view it aswhatever gets traffic this month.

They'll worry next month about what it takes to gettraffic then. Opinion: Stick to evergreen article marketing methodsand provide the Google gods the unique, valuable contentthey request. If you outsource articles, go for higher quality writersand vendors who use a brain when they write. My opinionis that over time, Google will find a way to weed outmindless, low quality content. Opinion: If you have little or no budget, use articlemarketing.

-------------------------------------------3. Viral marketing----------------------------------

Viral marketing is good traffic when you can get it. But can you get it steadily and consistently? That's themillion dollar question. Of course, the best and brightest minds can. But whatabout people who are less than marketing gurus?

The best method of viral marketing I know of is still Mike Filsaime's Butterfly marketing concept. That means you create high quality content that is given away by others to their list for free. And youmake money from an immediate upsell, or as Mike callsit "the OTO" or one time offer. The reason this works is a lot of people will emailvaluable content to their list where they might notemail a pitch or offer.

As you'll notice, article marketing and viral marketingcome down to the ability to provide quality content. The good news is that with Elance and other freelancingsites, you CAN have content created. The issue becomes the QUALITY of the content.

The least talented and laziest people will have content created by the lowest cost bidder. And you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out others may notwant to email low quality, rehashed, brainless contentto their list. Opinion: Either hire writers who have a brain and useit or develop some expertise on a specific topic yourself.

If you zero in on a specific topic, it doesn't take longto learn more about it than most others. Opinion: Viral marketing has a higher skill level thanarticle marketing because you have to find people willingto email your content to their list. If you have your OWN list, and the content is compellingenough that your own members will spread the word, thenyou've reached the ultimate scenario.

Maybe easier said than done in the days of over-marketed,over-communicated, over-saturated markets. Still, it'sdoable. Opinion: Getting the software set up and running correctlyisn't a piece of cake. Do you use a stand alone installation?

Do you integrate with Amember or other systems? Whichsoftware? Do you create separate viral sites for eachproduct? If you use the email feature built into the softwareprograms, where do you host it?

----------------------------------4. Video marketing---------------------------

One of the latest crazes to hit the scene is creating videos and uploading them to the video sites. Software programs like Traffic Geyser (and others) will handle the uploading part for you. I know of one marketer getting 200+ opt ins per day fromvideo sites at no cost. Not a bad deal.

As more and more marketers all rush to use the same method,Google will undoubtedly show less and less love tothese videos. Part of the play is organic, meaning that Google hasshown these video sites its love. That love is likely fleeting..."You number ten sailor." However, these sites get a LOT of traffic. So videomarketing is likely here to stay, although the resultswill dilute over time. Matt Bacak is turning his articles into videos and uploading them. That's a sound strategy that leveragescontent in a rational way.

Opinion: Video marketing is here to stay but measure the results and watch your return on time and investment.

----------------------------------4. Pay-per-click marketing-----------------------

I hate Google. Sometimes. They keep turning the screws on marketers tighter and tighter, even for those PAYING for advertising. I really wish there was someone else in the game who hadtraffic and considered more the interests of marketers. Unfortunately, Google IS the game.

Well, there's Ebay. But they just put the clamps down on ebook marketing. So they're following the footsteps of Google. The good news is the instant traffic IS there and you CAN buy it. Until Google changes their ever loving mind again, the game right now is about relevancy.

Meaning the more closely your ad exactly matches the search term and the content on the landing page, the lower your CTR (click through rate). The WHOLE problem and issue with this is it takes awaythe advantage you had in pay-per-click to freakin' beginwith -- scalability. Now, the best and brightest minds do find ways to hack, get around, or comply with Google's whims and demands.

For example, one of my friends found that by sellingebooks for $17.00 on highly specific topics, he couldget the advantages of relevancy, positive revenue andscalability. I think he's onto something. This is the best strategy I'veheard about lately. Opinion: You can't trick Google in the end.

So you haveto find ways to create landing pages that match the searchterms. And then figure out how to scale that. My personal solution is to try to hire someone. My firsthire didn't work out. I'm going to round two. If you can'tafford to hire someone (perhaps overseas), you'll have to invest a lot of your personal time and keep your fingerscrossed that in an overnight Google slap your marketingdoesn't fall apart!

Opinion: Stay away from gimmicks, do your best to give Google what they want and keep it evergreen.

------------------------------------5. Affiliate marketing-------------------------------

The final option I'd like to discuss is affiliate marketing. For many years, this has been my chosen method for obtainingtraffic. The landscape has changed in Internet marketing. Nowadays, affiliates are driven by the launch of the week.

That means you aren't likely to get the continual trafficyou did in the old days. However, in protected niches, this isn't so. And affiliatemarketing can still be a huge tool for you. In the arena of Internet marketing, the competition foraffiliates to promote an offer is voracious. Mostly, it'sbuilt on small groups of friends and "inner circle camps"promoting each others offers.

Opinion: Affiliate marketing is still gold in niches. If you're in the Internet marketing arena, you better beready to run with the big dogs or you won't get much action. Opinion: Affiliate marketing has a higher skill level thanother methods because you have to network and get othersto take action. The payoffs can be sweet but it's a gamebest played by good networkers.

------------------------------------The final analysis-----------------------------

Social marketing -- Google loves these sites right now. Buthow long before Google withdraws its favor? Who knows? Article marketing has always worked and still works. Some of the methods change. Focus on quality content.

Viral marketing -- Not as simple as article marketing. Butthe basic "Butterfly Marketing" strategy has legs and willcontinue to work. Hey, people love free content. The keyhere is to have content high enough in quality that otherswill want to send it to their list.

Organic seo -- The rules change frequently. Are you smartenough and swift enough to keep Google's love?

Video marketing -- Video sites have big traffic. Watch yourroi. Turn your articles into videos and leverage your content. Pay-per-click marketing -- Focus on evergreen strategies.Find a way to outsource or hire talent so you can scale.

Affiliate marketing -- A more difficult game for newbies. Plays to the strengths of networkers. Still works in niches. A tough game in the Internet marketing playing field.

Friends for Sale - Buy me!

UPDATE: friends for sale is no longer with us - ADIOS AMIGOS!

You ever wanted your own internet marketing "pet" ?

http://apps.facebook.com/friendsforsale/users/show/11059

I'll be your dawg! - you are cordially invited to buy me (for a bit of fun) on facebook's "Friends For sale" - I already have some tasty morsels of my own on there including Marlon Sanders, Cody Moya & Mark Joyner to name a few :)

Update there is a forum all about friends for sale - I'll probabley join up their too soon :)

http://www.friendsforsale.net/

you'll notice I have a subscription invitation to join my youtube channel on there too - as i just found out you can add html on your 'friends for sale' profile - which is cool for a bit of self promotion or if you have a blog you want people to visit or a youtube channel etc ? - as long as it doesn't get abused by idiots for spam - it's a handy little piece of knowledge - I've personally added youtube because I want to make use of video for this "preselling" thing I read about - doing videos reminds me a bit of drama class at school, which i really used to like - so if you see me rolling about on the virtual floor or flapping my arms about pointlessly - i am probably just trying to focus or take my mind back to those school days to remember what I liked about it

- once i start making sense abit more I might get practical and flog some junk on gumtree and / or ebay - just personal stuff as practice - I man there is no point in me trying to go self employed again until I've got something going on is there ?

I'm sure i could make money without the grand a month I was ment to be getting to help me get going - i just have to think FCUK the bullshitter(s) and try it with no money - very slowly if neccessary - I mean I dragged it out for 7 years now another 7 here or there ain't gonna make much diference now - unless i die or the world explodes - either way it won't matter at all then....

So yeah buy me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FaceBook App FlogBlog - useful for anyone with a blog

Update September 2008 note:
Flogblog is called "Simplaris Blogcast" these days, but it's the same bit of kit.

A quick chat about flogblog - a free app. on facebook that is worth adding if you would like your latest blog posts to appear on your facebook profile and provide fresh content for profile visitors.

I've been using it for a while now and other marketer's are beginning to add it which is a good sign - as it proves I'm not mad! (well not completely)

http://apps.facebook.com/flogblog/

I've added this blog to my flog blog account via my feedburner url as google seem to refresh / update my lastest blogging pretty quick - I've also got this blog going through affiliates 4U (see link on left) so between there, mybloglog and my "flogblog" on facebook I've got a nice little promotional triangle going on that I'm happy with for now... I will continue to add my reviews on dropshipping and wholesale companies etc. on linkprimer, but seeing as I'll be adding a load of video's to youtube selling off stuff via gumtree.com

- I might be adding more stuff other than just the snazzy sales copy over here now aswell! we'll see....anyone wanna buy some old lampshades ? ,,,ha, ha, well - I gotta start somewhere - I want to make my videos fun - atleast fun enough for me to actually do the darn things - I'lm getting there

- been a year at gumtree and still nobody has jumped on the gumtree wagon - maybe they are cautious after things like dropshops didn't take off quite as much as many of us hoped - maybe us English just aren't as organized as the American's or Germans ?

Dropshops are like Argos meets the 'rag and bone man' there.

Recyleing seems to be grudgingly taking off - maybe an entrepreneur will get themselves a van removal franchise type thing going - pick up people unwanted junk like clearance houses do via a collection day like - the green tubs that collect newspapers - "eBay bob" - could pop around weekly or fortnightly give a set amount of cash per green tub (max 3 per household) - or do it on a commission basis in an affiliate structure - and sell what he can sell on eBay - give the "unsellable" to charity like the yanks do, or dispose of it via the dip/recyleing centre

each hold hold could have an affiliate ID - and household that provide items that sell well could get bonuses - to keep them providing good quality stuff - a sort of carboot sale from home via tub -if it was done of a commission basis - all the valuing of items and stuff could be done away with and an affiliate id just labeled on the item instead.

Man if, I had a van (and could drive) I'd do it myself!

I've yet to make personal use of this dropshipper but I've heard nothing but good things about them, i signed up several years back and they are still going strong it seems.

To dropship with this company there is a one off dropship joining fee of £40, plus I think you have to add funds from your PayPal account befroe they ship items out.

some of the bigger on-line stores use this dropshipper/wholesaler as their source of goods which is one of the reasons I joined up, as you know that if they are supplying a big brand there has to be a certain quality of service or they'd change suppliers.

goods are delivered by Royal Mail.

I'm not sure if this company allow International sellers (outside of UK/EU) so you'd have to check with them

catagories are many - here are the main one's:

Also Article For home based business opportunity seekers:

Looking to choosing the right work at home business

There is a important step to take after figuring out what a niche market is (see previous article "What Is a Niche Market Anyway?"). This step is finding a niche that is profitable. With a niche that is not profitable, a home based business will not last long. Let's discover how to find a profitable niche.

Step #1: Take a trip to your local library, Books A Million, Borders, or the like.

Step #2: Jot down topics that you observe with "How To" books like the "For Dummies" series.

Step#3: Look for books that are bestsellers year in and year out. Examples include job hunting books, sales letter books, self-improvement books, etc. Write down potential niche markets based on your research. For example, maybe you could write an ebook about tips on writing a business plan for real estate investors.

Step #4: Browse the magazine racks and take note of hobby related magazines.

Keep in mind that you are looking for a niche market that is:

1) Easily reached (if they have a magazine you can reach them)

2) Isn't so large that the field is crammed with competitors

3) Willing to spend money. You can check out the ads in hobby and trade magazines to discover the prices of objects of interests for a particular niche market.

4) Crazy and passionate about their hobby or interest. If someome actually creates a magazine, they typically are passionate!

Niche markets that I've seen by looking at the magazine racks are scrapbookers, quilting, collectibles collectors, and boat owners.

Always remember, you are building a foundation by looking for a market that is trying to buy a product or service.

A way to check out how many people are actually searching for a item or activity is to use keyword tools such as the Overture Suggestion tool at http://www.inventory.overture.com/, nichebot.com, Wordtracker.com. and Good Keywords.

Once you are in one of these sites, type in the following word "tutorial" and then copy and paste the results on a Excel spreadsheet.

Then, type in "guide" and copy and paste the results on a Excel spreadsheet as well.

There will be a huge amount of results which will show you exactly what people are trying to find related to "guides", "how to", and "tutorials"; in other words, you will see the exact information they are seeking. Once you know this, your job simply is then to offer them a product or service that will meet their need.

When the lists are developed, make note of potential products such as a guide on "how to plan a vacation". Other great words to use are "buy", "purchase", "learn", "problem", "want", etc. You will be amazed at the results.

Follow the above tips and be well on your way to targeting a highly profitable niche market.

An Introduction to Adsense by Cody Moya

An Introduction to Google AdSense By Cody Moya

Many smart web entrepreneurs have discovered how to use the powerof Google AdSense, but the first step is to understand just whatthis program is and what it has to offer web site owners. Google AdSense is a program which serves up ads on the hosting website, but the key is that the ads that are placed there are relatedto the subject of the web site on which they appear.

For instance,a web site devoted to the antique car hobby might host ads forcompanies selling cars, promoting car shows and the like. In fact, AdSense is part of an advertising principle known ascontextual marketing. Placing the ads in context, as with the oldcar web site, increases the chances that those ads will be seen andresponded to.

After all, the general public may not be interestedin buying fancy chrome wheels or hubcaps for a Model T, but ownersof classic cars may be. The possibilities for contextual advertising in general, and GoogleAdSense in particular, are endless. A hockey site can host ads forhockey equipment and hockey sticks, a tennis web site could hostads for tennis balls and tickets to tennis tournaments.

It is easyto see why this program has become so popular and so well respectedwith internet users and web site owners alike. The good news for web site owners is that Google AdSense can bequite a lucrative endeavor, especially for high profile sites andthose sites with excellent, high quality and in demand content.

One of the best things about the Google AdSense program is that theads are highly targeted and relevant to the subject of the website. Targeting the ads makes a great deal of sense, sincetargeted ads are more likely to get the click throughs thatgenerate revenue. Google AdSense ads are text only, unobtrusive and very easy toread.

Unlike banner ads and pop up ads, these ads do not get inthe way of the web site visitor's experience, and they are designedin such a way that they do not overwhelm or overshadow the contentof the web site itself. Chances are the average web user hasalready seen hundreds, if not thousands, of Google AdSense ads.

There are not many places left where web site owners can make moneydirectly off of their web sites, but Google AdSense is one suchdestination. Google AdSense allows web site owners to make anincome off of every page of the web site. In addition, thealgorithms used by Google to index web sites automatically selectthe best ads for each page of the web site, providing highlytargeted and effective ads for their advertisers and lots of incomefor the owner of the site. Those web site owners and designers who have been around for awhilemay remember a concept known as AdWords.

In essence, Google AdSense is an offshoot of the initial AdWords model. It isimportant to keep in mind, however that AdWords and AdSense are not the same thing. When you do a Google search, you have probably noticed the smalltext ads which are displayed to the right hand side of the searchresults. These are contextual ads, served up based on the searchcriteria.

These targeted ads are known as AdWords, and they areused by various companies to generate revenue and drive newcustomers to their web sites. Google AdWords uses the pay per click model to generate income forGoogle. When a user clicks on one of the AdWords, that advertiserpays Google an agreed upon amount of money.

This process is fullyautomated and easily trackable by all parties. The amount of moneychanging hands with each click varies all the time and is subjectto word bidding. The placement of the ads, and the amount ofrevenue received for each click, is subject to market forces, justas in the brick and mortar advertising world.

With Google being the predominant search engine today, the companyhas continued to exert its power and influence, and the ads servedup by Google, both through AdWords and AdSense, can be powerfulrevenue generating machines. Many smart web site owners havealready discovered the power of Google AdSense in generatingrevenue and profiting from their web site content, and many moreweb site owners are discovering this power every day.

Starting with Google Adwords the right way - from Blog Guest Michael Burke

Starting with Google Adwords the right way

Inbound traffic is one of the main concerns for any website just starting out, and although there are a number of free methods of getting traffic must will opt for a pay per click(PPC) campaign such as GOOGLE ADWORDS.

I am no different in this respect.Pay per click is without a doubt the best way to drive targeted, quality vistors to your website.it should be simple, three lines of text, that can't be hard, can it?I can guess that like me, you've seen hundreds of glowing testimonials on success with PPC and hundreds of products showing exactly how easily you can cash in with even a shoe-string budget.

I'm not contesting any of them, this is a about mistakes you can make very easily, and how you can avoid them.If you do not start out in the right way you NOT make money with adwords,
The biggest miatake for an adwords rookie, is get carry by all the testimonials.this mistake is probably the one that will cost you your budget.

Why? because if you get carried away by the exitement at the "almost garunteed" income your campaign will bring in you will most likely forget one thing you need to keep in mind - "I know nothing about ADWORDS or PPC campaigns".So dont rush in, do the research. find out what it takes to work with ADWORDS.

Information on working with PPC is all over the net - simply google it.Phrases like content network or search, keywords and keyword bidding, clickthrough rates (CTR) and conversion rates will all jump out at you if you don't.

Once into your campaign you will set your ad text, rotation and your budget, again this sounds easy and it isDo not get scared or impatient if the ad is not turning clicks into income straight away.Do not convince yourself that doubling your budget on day two is a good idea, afterall volume must mean profit...

...Wrong! fifty keywords just doesn't cut it, regardless of what your spending. At some point (Probably around day five) several, if not all your keywords will jump up in bid price and be turned off.The answer is more keywords not more money.

Fight the urge to invest more money and invest your time in keywords instead.

Use the all the tools provided and any you use already (I now use Google sets, Google trends and Wordtracker among others for keyword research) to build as big a list of keywords as possible.

Second to keyword selection there is one other important factor you must remember if you have are to have any hope of success and this is content. What your ad promises you must deliver.Getting clicks is pointless if your landing page is not what you've said it is.e.g. your ads promote gardening tips but your webpage is a shopfront for "equipment" with a link to an article "tips" page.

Having to make that second click will in most cases cost you your visitor.so before writing your "three little lines of text" make sure you are delivering on your promise.I know this sounds like common sense but huge numbers of webmasters overlook this imortant factor and lose money as a result.

There are other things to consider with content and you can find them in the adwords TOS.
So avoid wasting your budget, Do the following;Do the research and prepare for your campaign with the know-how (provided by google and other sources online) and without any haste to get started.

Consider if the content landing page is apropriate for your campign and build an extensive keyword list.Use all of the tools provided within adwords such as variations, split testing etc.Once you've put the foundation together, any ad campaign can be a profitible one.

Using Giveaways As A Listbuilding Tool
By: Lee Kendrick, Posted: 2008-04-06

Lately it seems that the focus of internet marketers everywhere has shifted toward participating in giveaway events. Most people has a few basic questions when it comes to these types of events. What exactly is a giveaway event? And, why should I participate? Isn't my goal to sell products, not give them away? And, all of these are valid questions.

1. For the internet marketer, webmaster and business owner, registering to download products from giveaway events is a fantastic way to obtain popular reports, eBooks and software... without any out-of-pocket money. The only requirement is that you must provide a valid email address to the product owner, in return for your access to each product... which is a small price to pay. Obviously, you can always remove yourself from the marketer's email list if you choose to do so at a later date. Although, if you select carefully, you'll find that most of these marketers provide high-quality content that has continued value... beyond the giveaway event itself.

2. Many top internet marketers, webmasters, software developers, authors, and affiliate marketers have developed HUGE lists of 50,000... 250,000... or more (within a few weeks or months) by simply uploading their free products to these
giveaway events.

3. Obviously, making sales are important. BUT... making sales to tens or hundreds of thousands of people (who've downloaded your freebies & joined your mailing list) is much more important than selling products through your website. And please don't misunderstand me, because selling products through your site, through affiliate promotions, through article marketing, etc. are all vital to your online success. However, adding giveaway events to your "promotion arsenal" will make life a lot more fun for you & will thrill your wallet too.

4. When you participate in a giveaway event, it's vital to your success... to have your free product shown as close as you can to Page 1 or the top of the list. To insure higher rankings, most giveaway sites will allow you to upgrade your
membership, which insures that your product won't be deleted & that more people will download it. Choosing to upgrade (or not) will make or break your "giveaway event success".

5. Last of all, it's also very important that you promote the event as much as possible... to your customer list, on your website, on your blog, etc. When everyone works together, more traffic goes to the event, and when more traffic arrives, more products are downloaded, and when more products have been downloaded... you WIN with a LARGER LIST.

With that being said, if you have a product that you're willing to giveaway for free exposure & to build your list... I highly recommend visiting http://leekendrick.com/massive-jv-giveaway & signing up as a JV partner.

If you don't have a product to upload (i.e. still working on your eBook, have been procrastinating, etc.), simply upload one of your Private Label Rights (PLR) products that you've collected as cyber-dust on your hard drive. I also recommend changing the author's name, maybe the title of the product, etc. to make it your own. But, this isn't 100% necessary. You will connect with your audience (downloaders) if the product appears to be your own creation. But, at this stage of the game (to all the procrastinators), it's more important that you start getting people added to your list... FAST!

Every person added to your list is worth at least $1 per month to you, as long as you build a relationship... add value to the relationship with great content in the future... and stay in touch with them on a regular basis.

If you need some free reports, I highly recommend visiting my website at http://leekendrick.com/free-listbuilding-tools today. You can get 1 free report each month, which you'll also be able to rebrand (in less than 2 minutes & maybe faster) with your own affiliate links. Each report is extremely high quality & excellent cover graphics too. There is an option to upgrade, which will let you get 4 free reports each month... in almost any niche. PLUS, you can upload your free reports through this link too... helping you get more website traffic & broaden your reach.

The site administrator at http://leekendrick.com/massive-jv-giveaway will provide you with a squeeze page for a nominal fee, if you don't already have one (or don't have the time to create one).

I hope this article answered your questions about giveaway events. Internet marketing is really simple and shouldn't be as complicated as it appears.

A pearl of wisdom or two from Marlon Sanders Regarding Shiny Objects

How To Stay Focused And Not Get Distracted By Every New Bright and Shiny Object (Save Your Time, Save Your MoneyAnd Hit Your Targets Faster, Simpler and Easier)^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It's called the new "bright and shiny object." It's the latest, greatest system, method or secret that is masspromoted by everybody and their dog. In the old days, you had about two of these come along per year.In today's world, you have a new one once a month if not weekly. First, let me say I'm a big advocate of learning.
And some of thesesystems or courses may be just the thing you need. Others could bea big distraction. How can you tell the difference?
Step one: Know the game you're playing How are you going to make money? Are you going to sell info products? Are you selling a service? Are you going to do the adsense game?
One of the things I've noticed is a lot of people come into Internetmarketing with a product idea that is highly questionable. This iswhy I recommend you do 12 product surveys. If your Game is selling info products and getting traffic via anaffiliate program, you might not wanna jump on the next Adsensesystem to come down the pike.
Stick to your model. Stick to your guns. The reason I say this is because it goes against most people's tendencies. Most people like to keep their options open. They don't want to commit. That's a sure way to get nowhere fast.
Step two: Ask yourself if the new "bright and shiny object" is a logical addition to your game plan. The mistake I see a lot of people make is NOT focusing. They say, "I'm going to do the Google Cash thing and have adsense on the pages with video and then have a butterfly site on the thank you page!" In other words, they try to do it all.
I've heard people say things like, "You need to generate leads 10ways." I don't see that. Not if you're just getting started and are workingpart time. You have time to focus on ONE thing and get really goodat it. I don't care if it's viral marketing, pay per click, organic seoor some other method. You need to pick ONE and get really good at it.
Step three: Realize that the number of people PROMOTING a productis NOT in any way indicative of the value -- for you. Here's what I mean: The number of people promoting a product haseverything to do with the skill of the promoter in getting others topromote. But that has nothing to do with the value of the product.
People are funny. They'll buy something just because everyone else is buying it. The better thing to do is to evaluate it in terms of your own game plan. And ask if the methods in the new program are a good fit. If they are, go for it. If they aren't, think twice.
Your game plan needs to cover 3 areas:
1. How are you going to get people to your web site? Your basic choices are an affiliate program, pay-per-click advertising, Butterfly-type viral marketing sites, organic seo, video marketing or article marketing.
Video marketing is a relative newcomer to the field. That is where you create videos and upload them to the video sites. The latest rage is called pay-per-view advertising. My advice is before you pursue advanced methods, get your basics in place. One of my general themes is that people wanna go triple diamond before they go direct.
You know, they wanna do a black belt karate move except they're a white belt. You start with solid fundamentals. I think you need to pick ONE of those to start with and get really good at it. Out of those methods, everyone seems to gravitate towards organic search engine optimization because "it's free." Keep in mind that Google keeps changing the rules.
You can build up a little mini empire only to have Google dissolve it overnight. If you go this route, you need to really, really learn what you're doing. And imho stay away from black hat techniques. Why? Because you want to build for the long term. And sooner or later Google will find a way to detect the black hat methods.
If you wanna go the affiliate program route for traffic, check out: http://www.affiliatedashboard.com/ In that product, I lay out how I promote my affiliate program and use it to get traffic.
2. How are you going to capture names and email addresses? What value will you offer in exchange for the name and email address?
You'll want to start an idea file where you print out good name squeeze pages you run across. If you're unfamiliar with the term, a name squeeze is a page where you capture the name and email address. An example would be: http://www.pushbuttonletter.com/ That's one of my name squeezes.
3. What will your follow-up email marketing strategy be? At minimum, I feel you need to send out a valuable email, video or blog post once a week. Some people are having success sending outcontent-rich emails or videos daily.
Will you sell your own products in those follow up emails or willyou sell affiliate products? To me, the KEY to this part is offering valuable CONTENT. I still remember the old days when everyone in the game published an ezine. But the ezines were filled with crap content, plr, articles by other people and so forth.
The quality just wasn't there. In today's world, you need quality content. This is a sticking pointwith a lot of people who feel they don't have any expertise. All you gotta know is a little bit more than the people on yourlist. You have to be one step ahead. Most people only read two books a year. So it isn't that hard! Seriously.
One other observation -- In a good target market, it usually isn't hard to find places to buy banner ads, advertise, find ezines to buy ads in and so forth. My last comment is that some people should start with eBay.
You know, if you have very limited computer skills, you're struggling just to do the simplest, most basic things, and you don't have much money then try eBay. I often recommend this to people in their 70's and 80's with limitedcomputer skills but the desire to do something online.
There's a lot of free and cheap training online on how to do eBay.
It's a good place to get your feet wet and acquire basic computer skills.
